| Board of Pharmacy Issues ASCP Announces the ASCP/NABP LTC Pharmacy Model Rules Tool Kit and List Server! ASCP has created new resources to help promote state adoption of the ASCP/NABP LTC Pharmacy Model Rules. The LTC Pharmacy Model Rules, which have been incorporated into the NABP Model Act focus on eight areas of long-term care pharmacy practice including:
1) The LTC Pharmacy Model Rules Tool Kit The Tool Kit contains helpful information in user friendly formats, including:
2) The LTC Model Rules Group List Server To discover more ways you can help, join the ASCP/NABP Model Rules list server! This addition tool was created to provide you with a platform to ask questions and share ideas with your colleagues across the country interested in informing others about the significance of the LTC Pharmacy Model Rules. To subscribe, visit ASCP's Member-Only List Servers page and click on “LTC Model Rules” and follow subscription prompts. Posting questions and sharing information through this list server is easy! Simply email ltcmodrules@ascp.com for your message to be received by all list server subscribers. Remember to keep this email address handy for future use. If you would like to reply to or send a message to an individual list server subscriber, please remember to make appropriate changes to the recipient of the message address to avoid having your message post to everyone on the list server rather then just the person for whom the message was intended. For appropriate list server etiquette, be certain that you comply with the ASCP’s Guidelines for Use of ASCP’s List Servers Questions regarding this list server may be directed to cschlosberg@ascp.com. ASCP and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) released a Joint Report on Model Rules for Long-Term Care Pharmacy Practice in March 2007. Get on the agenda of the next Board of Pharmacy meeting in your state to get the message out about long-term care pharmacy issues! We need the help of ASCP members to spread the word about the model rules published in the ASCP-NABP joint report. This information will help Board of Pharmacy members understand the differences between retail and long-term care pharmacy. Find out the time and location of your next Board of Pharmacy meeting and get on the agenda to discuss the joint report and to describe the nuances of dispensing medications to long-term care facilities. ASCP has made it as easy as possible, by creating a list of all State Boards of Pharmacy and their scheduled 2009 meeting dates (if they are posted), in addition to writing sample testimony that you can use or adapt when you’re speaking to your Board of Pharmacy. |
