Program Description

Infection control in long-term care facilities is always an important topic, but there are new regulatory and clinical implications that now make infection control imperative.  Newly revised guidance at F-Tag 441 of the State Operations Manual, which goes into effect September 30, sets new regulatory expectations for infection control.  This new survey guidance is timely given the emergence of 2009 H1N1 and the impending flu season.  Are you and your facilities prepared to comply with F-Tag 441?  Are you ready for the upcoming flu season?  Attend this webinar to learn more about the consultant pharmacist’s role in preventing and treating infections in long-term care facilities.

  • Summarize the key points of the new infection control guidance at F-Tag 441 of the CMS State Operations Manual.
  • Describe the consultant pharmacist’s responsibilities in preventing and treating infections in the long-term care facility and complying with F-Tag 441, including medication administration observation, antibiotic use analysis, etc.
  • Discuss the importance of influenza management in the long-term care facility.
