Description of Course

Pharmacists have a tremendous opportunity, under Medicare Part D and other initiatives currently being explored, to receive payment for monitoring and improving medication use in patients with complex conditions.  To take advantage of these opportunities pharmacists will need to assess their personal and professional readiness to move in the direction of medication therapy management (MTM).  Determining what is needed to develop and implement an MTM service is crucial for success.

This certificate program will enhance pharmacists’ clinical expertise in evaluating complicated medication regimens, identifying drug-related problems, and making recommendations to patients, caregivers, and health care professionals. Through self-study modules, case studies, and hands-on patient interview and assessment practice sessions, pharmacists will obtain the clinical knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to establish MTM services for Medicare Part D and other patients with complex drug regimens.

undefinedCertificate Programs in Pharmacy are structured and systematic post-graduate continuing education experiences for pharmacists designed to instill, expand, or enhance practice competencies through the acquisition of specified knowledge, skills, attitudes and performance behaviors. ASCP certificate programs involve in-depth commitment on the part of learners, including both self-study and attendance at live seminar presentations.
