90% PASS FIRST CCGP CERTIFICATION EXAM; NEXT EXAM IN MAY

LP Of the 138 pharmacists who took the Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy's (CCGP) first certification exam last November, 124 received passing scores-a pass rate of just under 90%, CCGP executive director Michael Martin reports. Check out the complete list of the first group of pharmacists to earn the designation "Certified Geriatric Pharmacist" (CGP).

The second administration of the CCGP certification exam will take place on May 16 at 19 testing sites across the United States and one site in Canada. "Judging by the number of registrations and inquiries we've had so far, the next exam will draw significantly more test-takers than the first," Martin told The Consultant Pharmacist. "It is our hope that the CGP designation will soon be an expected standard of practice for all pharmacists serving geriatric patients."

To help pharmacists from all practice settings prepare for the May exam, ASCP has scheduled an intensive review course for March 14-15 at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Marriott in Irving, Texas. Conducted by faculty of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, this comprehensive review course will include lectures and case-based workshops, a workbook to facilitate study of patient-specific activities, and case studies designed for self-directed home study. The registration deadline for the ASCP review course is March 6. For details, call Educational Affairs Assistant Jessilyn Dechevalier at 703-739-1316, ext. 148 or e-mail.
