The Use of Very-Low-Dose Lorazepam for Agitation in Elderly Persons with Dementia

Agitated behavior is a common feature of dementia, often interfering with patient care and posing a threat to caregivers. Results of this retrospective chart review at a gero-psychiatric unit suggest that oral lorazepam, used in very low doses on an as-needed basis, may be effective for agitation control.
