Participate in the 2013 ASCP Summer Grassroots Advocacy Initiative
ASCP is again hosting its summer grassroots advocacy initiative, and we need your help. We need ASCP chapters and members to support ASCP’s federal advocacy priorities by holding local grassroots advocacy events in their communities and workplaces.
Our 2013 Goal: 10 Local Advocacy Events
HOW: You can participate in the 2013 summer grassroots advocacy initiative by hosting or participating in a local advocacy activity that addresses ASCP’s policy priorities. State chapters, school chapters, and individual members can plan events to participate. Advocacy events may include:
• State lobby days
• School of pharmacy community days
• Meetings in local congressional offices
• Political fundraisers
• Letters to the editor
• Visits or tours with your elected officials in your facility
• Launch a local letter/phone call campaign
WHY: ASCP’s members are its best advocates. ASCP members are issue experts with real-life experience that members of Congress value. A recent study by the Congressional Management Foundation indicates that the vast majority of congressional staff and elected officials highly value in-person contact with their constituents over other forms of communication, and the messages you bring to your elected officials are powerful. ASCP’s message in Washington is only as effective as the grassroots support of members makes it.
ASCP can provide you with tools and resources to get you started. Download our members-only guide to grassroots advocacy. (Member login required.)
