As the older adult population climbs over 50 million,
the society for senior care pharmacy turns 50 years old.
Alexandria, VA — 2019 marks a historic year for the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP), as the non-profit membership association commemorates it’s 50th anniversary and celebrates five decades years of providing care for one of the most vulnerable populations.
ASCP, founded in 1969, is the only international, professional society devoted to optimal medication management and improved health outcomes for all older adults. ASCP represents pharmacy professionals and students serving the unique medication needs of the older adult population.
Celebrations will kick off with ASCP’s birthday on January 29, 2019. On the 29, ASCP will host a continuing education webinar via Facebook Live titled ‘We Like It: Why Social Media is for Pharmacy.’ The webinar, free for ASCP members, will review how pharmacists can improve communications to professionals, patients, politicians, and policymakers through social media.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, ASCP will host a Forum and Fly-In to Washington, DC from April 16-18, 2019. The Forum and Fly-In focus on the future of senior care pharmacy practice. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with their representatives on the Hill to advocate for their profession. In the fall, ASCP will also host its 50th Annual Meeting & Exhibition in Grapevine, Texas from November 7-10, 2019. The Annual Meeting, themed ‘Aged to Perfection—Celebrating 50 Years!,’ will be a culmination of the year’s festivities.
