Alderman Named as Editor-in-Chief of ASCP Journal

ASCP has named Chris Alderman, B Pharm, PhD, FASCP, FSHP, BCGP, BCPP, as the new editor-in-chief of The Senior Care Pharmacist, the peer-reviewed journal of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP). Alderman has recently served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research for seven years, a period in which the journal’s readership and impact grew significantly. He oversaw the migration of the journal to an exclusively online format and instituted a range of other editorial reforms. He also is well-known in the geriatric community for his work with older adults. Alderman is associate professor, pharmacy practice, at the Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacy Research Centre, University of South Australia. He holds board certifications as a geriatric and psychiatric pharmacist specialist and has a bachelor of pharmacy degree from the University of South Australia.
Alderman takes over from H. Edward Davidson, PharmD, MPH, who has served as editor-in-chief from 1998-2019. Davidson is being recognized at the 2019 Annual Meeting for his contributions to ASCP and geriatric pharmacy.
“This is an exciting time, and I'm grateful to Ed Davidson and his editorial team for the longstanding work that has positioned the journal so well," said Alderman.
"It is a great privilege to have the opportunity to lead The Senior Care Pharmacist in the next stage of its development. ASCP is committed to upgrading to modern digital platform, expanding the editorial, readership and contributor base for The Senior Care Pharmacist internationally, and continuing to push the publication to its fullest potential.
ASCP also announced two new podcast hosts: Amie Blaszczyk, PharmD, BCGP, BCPS, an associate professor and the division head of geriatrics at Texas Tech University of Health Sciences, and Donna Bartlett, PharmD, associate professor of pharmacy practice and a clinical pharmacist with the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Pharmacy Outreach Program.
The Senior Care Pharmacist Podcast is a new audio podcast from ASCP that interviews authors from ASCP’s award-winning journal, The Senior Care Pharmacist, about their recent articles.
