LEARNING CENTERThe mission of ASCP’s Education and Professional Development Program is to provide education and training for pharmacists designed to strengthen the practice of medication management for older adults that contributes to a high quality of life. The continuing pharmacy education provided by ASCP shall be applicable to the practice of pharmacy through its focus on evidence-based medicine for the delivery of patient-centered care and public health as part of the interprofessional health-care team, and focus on continually enhancing the quality of care for all older persons through the appropriate use of medication and the promotion of healthy aging. Membership is not required for enrollment in ASCP continuing education activities; however, ASCP members receive discounts on all ASCP educational programs. Learn more and apply here. GERIATRIC PHARMACY CURRICULUM GUIDEThe guide is a resource designed to prepare pharmacy students and pharmacists with the education needed to care for older adults. This 3rd edition of the Guide links foundational geriatric principles of care necessary for pharmacy students with the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy CAPE (Center for the Advancement of Pharmacy Education) Outcomes and the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education’s Accreditation Standards and Guidelines. ACCREDITATIONThe American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ASCP is approved by BPS as a provider for the recertification of BCGP. ASCP is a member of The Council on Credentialing in Pharmacy (CCP). The council provides leadership, guidance, public information, and coordination for the profession of pharmacy’s credentialing programs. The vision of CCP is that all credentialing programs in pharmacy will meet established standards of quality and contribute to improvement in patient care and the overall public health. |
